Zinc

Zinc’s outstanding durability has been well-documented over time. In Europe, many examples of zinc roofs lasting for more than 100 years can be found. With proper installation, the hardiness of the zinc paired with the protective effects of the patina are why zinc roofs or walls have such a long life.

Natural mill finish zinc

Natural Mill Finish

With its glossy silver and smooth mill finish, VMZINC®’s classic line of Natural Zinc is showcased in architectural designs dating back to the late nineteenth century. Often used in a variety of construction applications that include roofing and walls, Natural Zinc’s durability is one reason for VMZINC’s long history of success with this product.
Over time, Natural Zinc’s surface will naturally weather from its lustrous shine to a beautifully textured matte-grey patina. While weathering characteristics can vary with geographical conditions, the zinc surface transformation allows for dynamic and striking results.
The aesthetically pleasing patina also provides environmental protection to the material, making zinc a durable solution that requires minimal maintenance.

While marks can occasionally appear on zinc surfaces that are unexposed to rain or are not regularly rinsed, such superficial marks do not reduce the material’s lifespan.

QUARTZ-ZINC®

QUARTZ-ZINC®

QUARTZ-ZINC® is Natural Zinc that is treated to visually mimic the beauty of naturally-aged patina. Recommended in situations where natural patina may not form consistently or evenly, QUARTZ-ZINC is pre-weathered and when new, offers a colour similar to that of Natural Zinc’s naturally-achieved matte-grey patina.

This pre-weathering process is accomplished by treating Natural Zinc with a surface treatment process. The zinc’s natural beauty is maintained, and the chances of disrupting the zinc surface’s aesthetic and functional integrity is minimized.
The resulting subtle, yet intricately textured matte-grey colour allows QUARTZ-ZINC to either stand out on its own, or to blend in with other natural materials such as stone, wood, terracotta, or slates.

As with Natural Zinc, based on the type of installation, surface exposure to weather, and geographical conditions, QUARTZ-ZINC can naturally develop a patina that may gradually and slightly darken the zinc’s surface over time. This patina enforces zinc’s long-lasting reputation by ensuring low-maintenance durability while protecting the material’s surface from environmental forces.
If the natural patina process of Natural Zinc does not sync with your schedule, get QUARTZ-ZINC.
All QUARTZ-ZINC materials are delivered with a removable protective film to minimize fingerprints, scratches, and contamination.

ANTHRA-ZINC®

ANTHRA-ZINC®

With its dark velvety characteristics, ANTHRA-ZINC® offers a unique VMZINC® stone-like finish that is capable of blending with various materials, such as black slate.
This finish is accomplished by treating Natural Zinc with a surface treatment process. This process is closely controlled to ensure a specific range of colour variances on the luminance scale. ANTHRA-ZINC is not a painted product, so the colour variations between batches achieve the intended appearance of stone rather than metal.

As with Natural Zinc, based on the type of installation, surface exposure to weather, and geographical conditions, ANTHRA-ZINC may slowly and gradually lighten over time to dark grey. Superficial surface scratches and marks will be covered by the natural grey patina. ANTHRA-ZINC’s patina enforces zinc’s long-lasting reputation by ensuring low-maintenance durability while protecting the material’s surface from environmental forces.
While white marks can occasionally appear on zinc surfaces that are unexposed to rain or are not regularly rinsed, such superficial marks do not reduce the material’s lifespan.
All ANTHRA-ZINC materials are delivered with a removable protective film to minimize fingerprints, scratches, and contamination.

AZENGAR®

AZENGAR®

With AZENGAR®, VMZINC® launches the next generation of zinc with lighter characteristics that multiply the opportunities for innovation.
Designed to imitate nature’s unpredictability, the rawness of AZENGAR is achieved with a surface treatment of NATURAL ZINC. With its range of light grey colour variances wider that exceed those of QUARTZ-ZINC and ANTHRA-ZINC, AZENGAR stands alone with a deeply textured and heterogeneous surface that accentuates characteristics of the zinc while demonstrating the randomness of nature.

As with NATURAL ZINC, AZENGAR can naturally develop a protective patina that will darken the light grey characteristics of the zinc and lengthen the material’s lifespan.
While weathering characteristics can vary with geographical conditions and installation practices, the zinc surface’s metamorphosis allows for vibrant and remarkable results different than other types of zinc products.
All AZENGAR materials are delivered with a removable protective film to minimize fingerprints, scratches, and contamination.

PIGMENTO® brown

PIGMENTO® Brown

PIGMENTO® is a coloured QUARTZ-ZINC® that can enhance a project’s beauty while enriching the innovations of architectural design. PIGMENTO is currently available in four shades: green, red, blue, and brown.
The surface of QUARTZ-ZINC is glazed with mineral colour pigments to produce PIGMENTO. The visible and natural texture of QUARTZ-ZINC will remain. The astonishing result is a distinctive shine that offers the deep texture of a natural material with the wide palette of man-made colours. Colour identity between batches are only slightly managed, allowing for variations.

Remaining true to its origins, PIGMENTO maintains the random heterogeneity only a natural material can offer while its durable pigments can extend the QUARTZ-ZINC lifespan. Over time, the pigments of PIGMENTO will fade to reveal the natural beauty of QUARTZ-ZINC.
All PIGMENTO materials are delivered with a removable protective film to minimize fingerprints, scratches, and contamination.
